Job Purpose:

Assistant Professor will facilitate Head of Department to manage and supervise the clinical / academic activities of department and patient’s care. He /She will assign / delegate duties to the Senior Registrars / Registrar staff for smooth functioning of the department regarding patient’s care, teaching and training of the students. He / She will manage, supervise and train PGs/ MOs/ HOs and other paramedical staff. He /She will also coordinate and

Collaborate with hospital administration to ensure quality education to students and health services to the patients.

1.       To arrange and give for students of MBBS / BDS Lectures/Seminars/Clinical & Practical skills small group discussions, Evaluation and Assessment according to curriculum.

2.       To facilitate the Postgraduate trainees (FCPS and DCPS) for Clinical Presentation, Small Group Discussion, Case based & problem-based teaching, Journal Club, Teaching Psychomotor skills and preparation for inter module examination and dissertation.

3.       To assist Head of Department / Professor for organizing CPC/ clinical meetings and conferences in collaboration with other professional organizations.

4.       To Coordinate and facilitate faculty members and Postgraduate trainees in the area of research and development through continuous education and learning environment and facilitate their publications requirements as part of career development research activities of department.

5.       To convey the knowledge for basic management of common problems of patient’s care, e.g. emergency treatment, management of emergencies and decision for appropriate treatment to develop clinical and practical skills of students.

6.       To assist and facilitate Head of Department in conducting examinations of MBBS/ BDS.

7.       To ensure regular OPD session for continuing medical care and manage / supervise new patients referred for specialist advice.

8.       To ensure regular clinical rounds of ward to manage /supervise progress and care of the indoor patients.

9.       To conduct medical procedures in ward under supervision of senior consultants and develop proper monitoring mechanism to ensure that all recommended diagnostics and investigations are carried out.

10.   To Provide specialist advice on medical problems of patients referred from other departments.

11.   To asses’ patients in emergency department if required for consultancy.

12.   To ensure on call commitments after regular duty hours to provide cover to the critical patient’s round the clock.

13.   To assist Head of Department / Professor in departmental confidential enquires of mortalities

14.   To manage, supervise and train PGs/ MOs/ HOs and other paramedical staff to ensure delivery of quality health services to the patient’s and enhanced patient’s management skills of the staff.

15.   To prepare and monitor duty Rota of department including paramedical staff and managing and resolving staff management and placement issues.

16.   To maintain close liaison with hospital administration to ensure proper ward management including patient’s clinical record and routine matters related to demand and supply and complaints.

17.   Must follow Islamic and medical ethics as per IIMCT mission statement.
