The Lab Assistant is entrusted with detailed data recording and maintaining accurate documentation to support departmental research and educational objectives. Responsibilities
- Prepare anatomical specimens and materials for laboratory sessions using appropriate dissection and preservation methods.
- Assist faculty and students during practical anatomy classes by providing required tools, specimens, and technical support.
- Maintain and manage laboratory inventory, ensuring the availability and proper storage of anatomical specimens, chemicals, and equipment.
- Implement and enforce laboratory safety standards, including chemical hygiene plans and biosafety protocols to minimize hazards.
- Handle chemicals and biological materials safely, following institutional guidelines for disposal and contamination prevention.
- Perform sterilization and cleaning procedures to maintain a hygienic laboratory environment.
- Record and document experimental data, specimen usage, and maintenance activities accurately for departmental records.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and institutional safety requirements related to chemical and biological materials.
- Monitor the condition of specimens regularly and perform necessary maintenance or preservation actions to retain specimen quality.
- Collaborate with faculty to prepare educational materials, models, and displays related to human anatomy and biochemistry.
- Support departmental research efforts by assisting in data collection, specimen preparation, and maintaining laboratory equipment.
- Report equipment malfunctions, inventory shortages, or safety concerns promptly to appropriate personnel.
- Stay informed of current best practices in anatomical dissection, specimen preservation, and laboratory safety through ongoing professional development.
- Assist in organizing and labeling laboratory areas to promote efficiency and ease of use for academic activities.
