Riphah International University invites applications for the position of Pharmacist Intern (Rips). This role is designed for fresh candidates interested in gaining practical experience in the pharmaceutical field under the careful supervision of qualified pharmacists and laboratory supervisors. The intern will engage directly with medication dispensing processes, clinical pharmacy activities, and healthcare compliance standards, ensuring that all pharmaceutical operations are conducted with precision and adherence to institutional guidelines. The position provides a valuable opportunity to develop comprehensive pharmaceutical knowledge while contributing to the effective management of medications and patient safety within the university's healthcare environment. Responsibilities include assisting in the entire spectrum of pharmaceutical duties, from medication storage and labeling to prescription verification and inventory management. The intern will support clinical visits, academic demonstrations, and participate in research and professional development activities, fostering a well-rounded educational experience. This role does not involve team management but emphasizes detailed coordination with supervisors and active participation in institutional pharmacy operations, promoting a responsible and ethical approach to medication handling and patient education.
Responsibilities

  • Assist in dispensing medications under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist or Lab In-Charge, ensuring accuracy and safety in medication distribution.
  • Maintain proper storage, labeling, and handling of all pharmaceuticals in compliance with current Good Laboratory Practice (cGLP) and institutional standards to preserve medication integrity.
  • Support the prescription processing workflow by verifying medication requirements and checking for accuracy to prevent errors.
  • Keep detailed records of dispensed drugs, maintain accurate inventory logs, and regularly perform expiry date checks to ensure the availability of effective medications.
  • Aid in managing pharmaceutical stock by preparing requisitions for medicines and materials, monitoring supply levels, and coordinating timely procurement.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and proper functionality of pharmacy equipment and maintain optimal storage conditions to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Educate students and patients, under guidance, on correct medication usage, dosage, and safety precautions to promote compliance and reduce risks.
  • Report any discrepancies, errors in medication dispensing, or issues with equipment immediately to the Intern Coordinator or Pharmacist Supervisor to maintain quality control.
  • Assist with clinical visits, contribute to academic activities, and support laboratory demonstrations to enhance practical learning and collaboration.
  • Participate actively in research projects, workshops, seminars, and ongoing professional development programs to build knowledge and skills in pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Adhere strictly to all institutional standards, policies, and ethical guidelines related to medication handling, professional conduct, and patient confidentiality.
  • Submit required documentation including attendance records, daily activity reports, and leave applications promptly to the Intern Coordinator to ensure compliance and record-keeping.
  • Take on any additional responsibilities assigned by the Head of Department or Intern Coordinator to support the pharmacy departments objectives and learning environment.
