Job Requirements:
MLIS/M.Phil. in Library and Information Sciences from a recognized university.
University-level theoretical and practical knowledge of archives preservation requirements, storage needs, and registration procedures for archives
Seven (7) years of successful, practical University library experience with professional archives management software and environmental monitoring applications.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
Develops and implements procedures for the acquisition, processing, digitization, and preservation of archival materials.
Develops, arranges and describes archival collections in accordance with accepted standards and practices.
Responsible for researching and responding to copyright and ownership issues
Prepare archival records, such as document descriptions, to allow easy access to information.
Establish and administer policy guidelines concerning public access and use of materials.
Develop policies or procedures for archives and libraries.
Maintains records of and prioritizes processing backlog.
Responsible for the appraisal, arrangement, and description of archival collections according to recognized archives standards (DACS, EAD, Dublin Core)
Assesses workplace culture with the Leadership Team and offers suggestions to foster a positive, diverse, accountable, and team-oriented environment within the library.
Develops relationships with similar organizations in the library field and the community.
Identify, evaluate, and implement appropriate service enhancements to continually improve the effective and efficient delivery of services to users.
Conduct training for staff regarding records management and transfer of relevant records to the permanent institutional archives.
